Part of the mission of the Youth Trumpet & Taps Corps is to recognize high school and college trumpet players who use their musical gifts to honor military veterans. In fulfillment of our mission, we offer several awards opportunities to our volunteers:

Letters of Recommendation

We are happy to write letters of recommendation for volunteers applying for jobs, college, and scholarships.

Who is eligible: All trained YTTC volunteers who have served in at least two events/funerals.
Requirements: Submit a recommendation letter request form located in the volunteer login area.

President’s Volunteer Service Award

The Youth Trumpet & Taps Corps is an official certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. The President’s Volunteer Service Award was started by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2003 as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by example, inspired others to engage in volunteer service. Each year, YTTC awards PVSA medals to volunteers for all volunteer work they participate in.

Who is eligible: All YTTC volunteers who perform community service and meet the minimum award level for their age groups.
Requirements: Volunteers must submit their outside volunteer hours on a quarterly basis using the volunteer service report form located in our volunteer login area.

Volunteer of the Year

Each year, YTTC will recognize the top volunteers across the country.

Who is eligible: Trained YTTC volunteers who have been active for the full award year: September 25 of the previous year through September 24 of the award year.
Requirements: This award is granted to eligible volunteers with the highest number of YTTC-related volunteer hours. A minimum of 5 events/funerals during award year is required.

Founder’s Award Scholarship (Seniors only)

YTTC encourages volunteers to use all of their gifts to serve others. Each year, the Founder’s Award Scholarship of $200 will be given to the most active eligible volunteer both inside and outside the organization.

Who is eligible: Active YTTC volunteers who are high school seniors and have logged PVSA volunteer hours in the current award year. A minimum of 5 events/funerals is also required.
Requirements: No application is required. This award is selected by the Board of Directors. Award will not be given in years with no qualified volunteers.
