About the Youth Trumpet & Taps Corps
The Youth Trumpet & Taps Corps (YTTC) is a service organization for high school trumpet players to use their musical gifts to serve others. Students volunteer to sound live Taps at veterans’ funerals and community events to help ensure veterans get a live rendition of Taps rather than an audio recording. Formed in 2014 by Katie Prior for her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, YTTC has 25 student volunteers in Oklahoma, Texas, and Illinois, and is currently recruiting volunteers across the country.
