01-01-2015 Trumpet and Taps Day

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signed a proclamation declaring January 1, 2015, as “Trumpet and Taps Day” with recognition of the Youth Trumpet & Taps Corps. This day was chosen because it marks the 15th anniversary of the National Defense Authorization Act (Public Law 106-65) going into effect requiring that every eligible Veteran receive a military funeral honors ceremony, to include folding and presenting the United States flag and the playing of Taps.

You can celebrate by:

  • Cleaning your trumpet
  • Practicing Taps
  • Playing Taps on your street corner at dusk
  • Wearing your YTTC shirt
  • Sharing our Facebook page with all of your friends
  • Thanking a veteran for their service to our Country
